Early Years Educator (EYE) - May 2012

"Designed to help increase chldren’s speech sound awareness through means of simple rhymes"

EYE reviewed Butters the Fluttery Butterfly and Nat the Chatty Bat. Catherine Tate brings the characters to life on the CD that is included with the book.

Martine Hovark says: “The rhymes in this book, and in the other books in this series have been developed in association with a speech and language therapy adviser and are designed to help increase chldren’s speech sound awareness through means of simple rhymes.

Each book focuses on a consonant, in this case ‘t’, and on two particular rhyming sounds. Butters the Fluttery Buterfly makes use of the UTT sound while Nat the Chatty Bat, focuses on the ATT sound.

The books are designed to be read out loud so that children hear the sounds repeated in different vowel contexts.”
