Authors offer children's creative writing workshops

on .

Craig Green, author of the award-winning Clickety Books series, has teamed up with Emily Barr, a bestselling author of 11 novels to offer creative writing workshops for children in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Craig said: "We'll be giving them the chance to try scriptwriting, poetry, letter-writing and even to start a novel.

"More than that, though, we will be firing up their imaginations, sharing our professional experience, and giving them the confidence to see themselves as writers."

Places can be won for the workshop on 1 May - read how to enter the competition here.

Their Barrington Green intensive summer workshop runs from August 6 to 10. Places will be limited. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for details.

Twelve Days of Clickety Christmas

on .

We have been supporting Children's Hospice South West with our animated Christmas carol The 12 Days of Clickety Christmas.

Children's Hospice South West helps and supports children and their families who are living with life-limiting conditions. Some come to them for palliative care, some for emergency care and many for planned respite and a rare opportunity for a break.

They provide a loving and caring place for every member of the family who stays with them; a sanctuary for Mums and Dads, brothers and sisters. A place where everyone can begin to forget their worries for a while, be a family again and find expert help and support in facing an uncertain future.

Children's Hospice South West needs your support to continue their vital work – so please help them in any way you can.

Here are the amazing Sound Council, the choir of Plymouth City Council. We'd like to say thank you very much for your wonderful singing! A special thanks to Simon Elvin for his organistaional skills and enthusiasm. These pictures were taken during recording at dBs Music.

Winner of Talking Tots Toy Award 2011

Talking Tots

Our first award! What a wonderful early Christmas present for everyone at Clickety HQ.

We love the Talking Tots communication groups and are excited and delighted to be the winner of their 2011 Toy Award for developing pre-literacy skills. They say:

"Clickety Books have been created from a linguistic point of view and feature fun characters such as Lucky the Plucky Duck, Erica the Picky Chicken and Corky the Squawky Hawk.

They are clear to read and beautifully illustrated and are complemented by audio CDs which are narrated with Rik Mayall & Ronni Ancona’s unique voices.

The books make use of rhyme, repetition of words, phrases, sentences and refrains which allow children to make predictions or guesses about words, phrases, sentences that could come next in the story."

Thank you Talking Tots!

Practical Pre-School

Well well well, what have we here? I’ll tell you what! We’ve only gone and got a spanking good review printed in Practical Pre-School Magazine.

For those of you out of the loop. Practical Pre-School Magazine is a very influential and well respected teaching resource guide. It’s subscription only and is a staff room staple. To get a thumbs up from them is worth celebration.

I would recommend these books for everyone who has or works with children; they are a really fun way of improving their speech development.”

So how about that for a testimonial!

Now we have known this all along, of course, but it’s a proud moment to hear someone else say it, especially from such a respectable source.

So you heard it, if you have children, or work with children, it’s well worth you getting a set of these books and making the most of their speech-flavoured goodness.
