Jake’s Cakes: Jake the snake likes baking cakes. Yummy scrummy cakes! However he is a bit of a silly snake and ends up with a tummy ache.

Written by a speech and language therapist each story is packed with multiple repetitions of selected sounds and rhymes. Jake’s Cakes is full of soundplay with a special focus on ‘k’ and s’.

The stories are expertly crafted to support children’s developing speech sound awareness and vocabulary knowledge. These are key foundation skills for success with phonics, early reading and spelling.

The simple, interactive storylines make it easy for children to anticipate what happens next and to join in when they hear the stories again. This provides lots of opportunities for them to both hear and practise saying words.

Children love repetition! It helps them build their knowledge and understanding of word meanings and story structure. We hope that you will enjoy each story again, again and again!

I read these books to my 5 year old autistic daughter. She has speech delay. We loved these books and the story's. We loved sounding out the words together. These are very good books for phonics.

Our favourite from the 3 I got, read every day by the children from the little ones to the big ones. Also very funny keeps them engaged.

My 2 year old daughter has become addicted to this book and frequently requests it as her favourite bedtime read. She particularly enjoys the rhyming narrative and is keen to read the book aloud with me. The illustrations are lovely and the repetition of sounds has really helped her with vocabulary and pronunciation of words. I would highly recommend this book.
