Chatty Bat is small and fat and loves to chitter chatter chat with all her friends. It’s very noisy with constant chatter until it’s time to sleep – then no more chatter, not a peep!

Written by a speech and language therapist each story is packed with multiple repetitions of selected sounds and rhymes. Chatty Bat is full of sound play with a special focus on ‘at’.

The stories are expertly crafted to support children’s developing speech sound awareness and vocabulary knowledge. These are key foundation skills for success with phonics, early reading and spelling.

The simple, interactive storylines make it easy for children to anticipate what happens next and to join in when they hear the stories again. This provides lots of opportunities for them to both hear and practise saying words.

Children love repetition! It helps them build their knowledge and understanding of word meanings and story structure. We hope that you will enjoy each story again, again and again!

I discovered this range of books recently. I love the ethos and my son absolutely loves chatty bat and friends. He’s completely absorbed and laughs out loud while I read, then goes nicely to sleep after (well most of the time;)

This is one of a series of books my boys (2 and 4) absolutely love – they routinely ask for them as favourite stories – and find them laugh out loud funny. I think it’s the combination of repetition, great rhymes and sweet illustrations – usually with a comic twist – that absolutely works for this age group.

This is a really engaging book which immediately became a hit with my 2 year old daughter. She particularly enjoys the rhyming sounds and repetition and likes to read the book aloud with me. The illustrations are fun and full of character. this series definitely helps with her pronunciation of key sounds and encourages her independent reading.
